Meet Mick

Mick Jones has been at the forefront of biochar innovation, engineering biochar production plants and farming with biochar since 2021.

As a hands-on farmer, Mick brings a rare combination of technical insight and real-world practicality to everything he shares.

On his YouTube channel, Mick documents the ongoing journey of biochar on his working family farm, where biochar lies at the heart of every operation.

His videos provide open, honest updates on what works, what doesn’t, and what he’s learning along the way.

From spreading biochar-amended farmyard manure to cultivating and harvesting thriving hemp crops, each video captures a new stage in the story of regenerative farming.

Mick’s approachable style and deep knowledge make his channel a valuable resource for anyone interested in soil health, sustainable agriculture, and the future of carbon-smart farming.

Follow Mick’s journey on YouTube to see biochar in action from the field and discover how small changes in soil management can make a big impact on productivity, resilience, and the environment.

Mick's Story

With over four decades of hands-on farming experience and more than 30 years working in biomass, renewables, and engineering, Mick Jones has built a career around practical innovation and sustainable progress.

As Head of Research and Development at Woodtek, Mick played a leading role in the design and success of the Woodtek C1000 Biochar System, a breakthrough in efficient, carbon-negative biochar production. The system was developed and tested at his 100-acre family farm in Wales, which now serves as both a working farm and a dedicated technology centre for biochar research, field trials, and education.

Mick also shares his findings and on-farm experiences through his LinkedIn page and YouTube channel, where he documents every stage of his biochar journey. His goal is simple: to share knowledge, inspire others, and help grow a sustainable future for farming and the environment.
